I kind of completely LOVE styling wigs. In fact I've even done costumes JUST because of the wig I get to style *cough Harvest Goddess cough* It can become challenging to stay focused on the WHOLE costume when I am distracted by wigs. The Anna wig may be done, but the Anna costume is not. Not at all. The skirt designs are nearly done, but I had actually intended this costume for Halloween 2013 ... woops.
Now it will hopefully become a Denver Comic Con 2014 costume!

When I style wigs, I have to consider a lot, I prefer heat resistant (The Anna wig is one of these)! But sometimes I need to think about time, and I have to find a wig that works in the time frame I have. I also have a large head. Once I had commissioned a party wig from a really awesome and fairly well-known wig stylist. I had expressed that my head was large and that I have a ton of very thick long hair as well. I can only imagine that this stylist thought that I had mis-measured my head, and needless to say I've lent out the beautiful wig a lot to my friends but I have never been able to wear it myself, it's too small :(
On this wig I cut the netting an added about 2 inches of orange stretch fabric, including out to the outer "frame/elastic." I also had to consider how to hide my natural hairline, and so I had to modify the style a bit to assist with hiding as well as hiding the netting that may become visible when styling an up-do into a wig. There are a lot of pins, as well as hairspray because I would like to be able to re-style it at some point. When I choose to not make a wig re-stylable I use hot glue, clear plumbers caulk, and lots of hairspray to get it to stay put. Nice cheap hairspray works the best, and gel doesn't really work at all. Gel works with the oils in our hair, and wigs don't have these oils. That was a tough lesson to learn back when I started cosplating. :)
If you guys have any questions about this wig, or any of my wigs, just ask. I'll be happy to answer them!
